Hi, my 10 year old son took a Darren Shan book out of the library on Saturday and has already finished it. It is unlikely that when we go back this Saturday that they will have any others (its only a small library) so are there any authors of a similar ilk about? Thanks.

Thanks both - as I say it's a small library so having a list of alternatives will be a good plan.
Ask the library if any other libraries in the local service have any other titles - if so, they should be able to reserve them for you. If not then you could ask them to either borrow them from another library service (the may charge for this) or, if there's enough demand, to buy copies in.

Thanks saxy-jag, we will do that too but I think that we need to get more books out this weekend (before he goes off the whole idea).
Has he tried the Skulduggery Pleasant books - Derek Landy is the Author
The Hero.com & Villain.net books are good too - that's Andy Briggs
The H.I.V.E series by Mark Walden
The Alex Rider books by Anthony Horowitz
You can check on the current location of every Darren Shan book stocked by the Herefordshire library service here:

(Enter 'Darren Shan' as the author and you'll see the first of 4 pages of results. Click on 'Show copies' to find the locations of particular titles, together with an indication of whether they're currently in stock).

Brilliant Buenchio - children # 2 and # 3 at a three hour party on Saturday (only an idiot has a three hour long party for 5 - 7 year olds) so the rest of us can go to some of the other libraries. Thank you.

Thanks Bednobs, hadn't occured to me to do that first.
lol bednobs - I'd just gone back to that thread and copied it ready to link - great minds and all that!
Our library (Chelmsford)offers online reservations for books held at other libraries. They will ship them in for you...be careful as there is often a fee if you ask someone to help you reserve them, but not if you do it yourself. Good luck. How brilliant that your son is such a keen reader!
