for my Gt Gt Gt grandfather. Gt Gt GF is John Litherland b 1812 in Wolverhampton Staffs married in Leeds? 1843 to Ruth nee Osborn b1815 of scarborough. I seem to have come to a halt as most of the info is in the Census and any records before this need more detail than I have.

I don't know about him craft, or anyone except John b 1812 that far back, There seems to be a lot of the family working in Shoe/boot making, I have a Walter b 1845 who was a cut nail maker, his daughter Ruth b1867 was working age 14 as a nail machine feeder. My Gt Gt Grandfather Alfred b 1852 was a leather cutter and Harriet Ann was a boot machinist.
Thanks for the Tamworth link dotty, I had dismissed that earlier, it could be the generation I'm looking for. I saw the name Ruth Guest and I saw Maria too, but didn't know who she was. Ruth Hannah b1867 married in 1889 but I thought it was Russell. And Gt gt Grandma Ruth Osborn b 1815 I think was married in 1843 to John b 1812. The only other Ruth is b 1876 to Frank b1853 and Harriet Ann (that's a strange story).
Craft the Leeds link is interesting I have some names that I can't match up with the families I have. They all come from Hunslet Leeds, I will follow them up tomorrow. It could be that John married Hannah, I have it that he married Ruth in 1843. I'll have to log off now, thanks very much to you both for your help, I've been getting nowhere with this lately.
