A vehicle may be fitted with two rear fog lamps but UK law mandates that only one is required to be fitted (and therefore testable) to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980.
If your car has two rear fog lamps, 1 nearside and 1 offside, and the nearside lamp (not testable) does not operate but the offside (testable) does, that is an MOT pass.
Further .. many cars have 'what looks like' a pair of them .. to keep car looking symetricallly pleasing from the rear : )
However .. only one may have a fitting and bulb.
thanks for everyone's input, I'm sure it has 2 but as it's an estate car it's not easy to replace the bulb and it's the offside that is okay,so it is in tomorrow so will let you know how I get on
hi, well my car passed the MOT and yes it is a blank on the nearside rear and I bought the car from new 10 years ago so I have learnt something and thanks to you all for your imput
