Life is how you find it and you cope accordingly. Sorry but beds are good, hubby's may not always be but remember the 'better or for worse' in your vows. Well this is the time to address those promises.
Both of us have back complaints and bought a Tempur a few years ago, woke up first morning not feeling so stiff and can both turn over without disturbing the others sleep, you dont get the bounce you would with a normal sprung mattress, so more restful. Only complaint it it is so hot, we even put a well padded mattress cover on it, but were still hot. We slept in the winter with a summer low tog duvet, but still kicked it off . Unfortunatley the matress split in one area and now is on the spare bed, where it will only get occasional use. We purchased another memory foam mattress at a 1/3rd of the price, its just as good but also just as warm. Shop around.
Don't have a Tempur but have one from www.ergoflex.co.uk which use the same material and spec. I found that it took around 10 days to get used to it, and now I have, I'd never sleep on anything else.
I did though find I suffered from back pain and aches for a good 7 or so days after getting it and was very concerned I'd made a mistake. The co advised though that it's quite common to feel 'sore' on this type of mattress as the support it provides is far superior to the mattress it replaced - which was old and made with springs.
My posture and general health is way better now so it's worth sticking out the adjustment period, trust me. Good luck to you both as for someone with back pain these Tempur mattresses can be a life saver, just make sure you give it a chance!

The newer Tempur Pedic Cloud mattress has a built in air flow channel that helps with the cooling, however, here in the U.S. there are several companies that sell mattress covers especially designed for memory foam type mattresses that help cool them... here's one:

Friends have bought the item and report it works well. Maybe something of like construction is available in the U.K.
