Pregnant guinea pig

Hi, I'm looking after my friend's pregnant guinea pig while she's away. The guinea pig is 68 days pregnant, and I want to know what to do if she goes into labor while my friend is away. Advice?

Normally you don't have to do anything, just keep an eye on things if it's during the day, if not you may just wake up to some lovely little babies who are miniature guinea pigs from birth (as opposed to hairless little creatures). Hope all goes well.

As Classylady says, you shouldn't need to do anything. I got two young female guinea pigs several years ago, they were my first ones and I was assured they had been separated from the males before they were sexually mature.
As the weeks went by I thought I must be overfeeding them because of how fat they were getting!
Just as I started to think uh oh, I got up to find that two had become eight!
No need to worry, just coo over the babies if they are born while in your care:-)

Ahh congratulations! New born piggies are the cutest little critters, I had a few babies when I had piggies. They are amazing, in theory they can eat solid food practically straight away but do really need their mum's milk for around 3 weeks. Don't interfere with them too much, if the mother is not really used to you then she will get very stressed if you start trying to handle the babies too soon.
