Does any one know whether the doctors are striking on Thursday. I have heard rumours but not for sure.

I am a civil servant and I will be out on strike on Thursday, I have been in my job for 29 years and I took the job on knowing that I would never get a bonus of any kind,no profit sharing,a lower wage than I would have got in the private sector, in fact absolutely no perks whatsoever apart from a pretty decent pension and that I could retire at 60.Now I find the Government is trying to pull the rug from under my feet, not only this but I am having to do three times the work I used to as we have so few staff and everything is target driven.I am tired of the media portraying me as a time waster and going on about the gold plated pension I am supposed to be getting at the end of it.
You may not have received any bonuses nicksmum but a lot of civil servants do.
Im a Civil Servant as well (23 years) and like Nicksmum i get no bonuses. I think its high time we dispell these media driven myths that so many people outside of the Civil Service seem to believe in. There are lazy and overpaid people in both the public and private sector.
Unfortunately as i have said in another post i cannot really go on strike on Thursday as it is the day my office shuts after 56 years so there is lots to do.

I will be mostly supporting the strikers.

i haven't had a payrise since 2008, i don't get a bonus, no profit share, and i don't have a pension. i also have to hit performance targets or lose my job, work long hours due to reduced staff and travel daily to all parts of the uk and europe.

perks: the occasional view of laura in reception.

And me.

> 4 years to get £45000 a year pension

Which is one reason why MPs describing teachers as "irresponsible" sticks in the craw a bit. Maybe they should get their own house in order first ...
I don't get a bonus of any kind, no profit sharing, a lower wage than some people get, and in fact, absolutely no perks (apart from the fact that I work close to home, so no commute), and, no pension. But I work in the private sector. I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of people like me who won't be happy that civil servants are striking for something the rest of us don't get. And you have to consider where the money for your wages comes from.
i did get a bonus, for work related performance, we all did, then afterwards were shown the door, business closed, bye bye

Not sure why doctors get bonuses, is it so they stuff ever more patients on their books, our surgery is already well over subscribed.
