Up-grading to Windows 7 Home

Hi, I need some advice guys. I've been on Windows XP Professional since it was introduced and had no intention of changing until now. I have got so many faults with my PC now (as ChuckFickens will tell you) that I have decided to change from XP to 7. My question is -- If I purchase the Windows 7 up-grade from XP is it likely that some or all of the problems I have with XP will contaminate 7 or does the up-grade 7 disc over-write all of the XP
My second option will be to purchase the Windows 7 Home Full edition which I take would clear all XP installation by installing from disc on Start-up.

You can't upgrade from XP to windows 7 as such. the upgrade version will work but it would make you do a clean install and wipe your hard drive and clear everything from it. (the same as a full version would).... the upgrade from XP to windows7 is basically just a license upgrade to save you a bit of money.

There is no guarantee that a computer designed to run windows XP would run windows7 either, there may be problems with some of the hardware not having any drivers available for windows7 and the computer also may just not be powerful enough to run windows7 happily.

You can download and run the windows 7 upgrade advisor from microsoft and it should tell you if your computer would be able to run windows7 or not.

You are going to pay £100 or so for a Windows 7 license, why not put that towards a new PC.

To be honest a PC designed to run XP is not going to be the best PC for running Windows 7 so you may even finish up wasting your money.

Why not just do a full clean install of Windows XP on the same PC. I do that every now and again on all my PCs and it is a good idea to have a clean out and start again every so often.
