Can anyone really quote what the figure should be to be fair to everyone after all the people who state the figures ( government ministers) haven't a clue what it must be like to try & survive without a job & trying to cope with rents & mortgages & feed a family. We've all heard about people living off the state & I know for a fact that they are not all malingerers. It's all very well for folks to be told to go & get a job,but where are all these jobs to be found ? Ron.

U-turn? Cameron has had to make so many u-turns that all he needs now is a tall Sufi hat and a voluminous skirt to qualify as a fully-trained Whirling Dervish!
One wouldn't mind so much but, when in opposition, any such activity on the then Government's part was invariably described as a "humiliating climbdown", but now he actually claims each one represents leadership and strength!

it would get you quite a lot in London actually, 500 quid a week, 2,000 quid a month absurd. Its private landlords who have been allowed to charge what they like, part of the problem, and who set the tariff at such a high level, as said on another thread, there are thousands of empty properties here, but council would rather leave them empty, than get tenants in, give them a grant to do up the place, then charge them a fair rent. Our council is selling off good council housing stock, bought up by property developers, done up for peanuts, then flogged off for millions.
