clue is hammers down i thought nails but i need second letter from answer which would make answer hastage. is that as clear as mud !!

it,s not a crossword it,s a spiral puzzle. h?stage is the answer is that any clearer than mud ! the candis mag has all different puzzles to confuse and keep this old brain active!!!

I don't understand why there was a clue for one question (the hammers down clue) but there seems to be no clue for H?STAGE

good morning!! spiral is not a crossword its more of a puzzle, last letter of each answer is first letter of next answer it goes round outside in a spiral towards middle. shaded areas give answer.(told you its as clear as mud) too many clues to give you them all but ta for your comments quinie and factor30

I am in exactly the same position as you. I have been poring over it for the last two weeks and still haven't solved it.
I wonder if they have made a mistake - it wouldn't be the first!
