wooford was shut down few months back today they have said they are shuting down the chaderton site.
big article in todays evening news but they have not put up the link yet.

there is talk of a third runway at manchester

they could use the old wooford site for lots of the smaller stuff, it was good enough for the vulcan and nimrod to use. it would be very handy for the people of stockport

Sa me as Bristol, we could have jumbos landing in Filton as the runway at Bristol International Airport is too short, (I use the term international very loosely) they have to stop at other airports as they cant take off with all the fuel.

London's got plenty of airports - "London Southend" (if that's not a contradiction in terms I don't know what is) is expanding, So you could probably walk from there.

London Southend is now essentially a freight airport, it is run by the Eddie Stobbart group. Though Easyjet are planning to use it in the near future.

Woodford and Chadderton were aircraft manufacturers sites. Woodford was run by BAe and was the former AVRO works and built the Lancaster bomber there (though Woodford is in Cheshire).
