I used to have to shut Hamish in another room whenever I hoovered as he wouldn't stop shouting and biting, He did it his whole life, so I don't think they ever calm down, really!

Thanks...hes my baby lol xx
That's exactly how Hamish behaved. Bite then run away in case it bites back! They're so brave, aren't they? He's grown so much since I last saw him, when he was all grumpy after he was clipped.
I have 2 rescue dogs and when I get the vacuum out they have very different responses. One is totally petrified and hides in the room which is as far away from the vacuum as possible. The other is happy to ride it/chase it/ bark at it!!
My 6 month cross terrier does the same with my hoover, and also with the noiseless u-bank sweeper.
I have to lock her in the kitchen.
Whatever the reason that your dog is doing this you can stop it very easily and quickly with basic training, they usually see hoovers as a toy, its not really a good practice to allow to chase it and get excited but I don't suppose anybody or anything with come to any great grief over it. Personally we have always stopped this type of behavior in our dogs.
lets face it ratter, if yours did that it really would be a dead hoover.
One of mine barks like crazy when the hoover comes out. I have tried everything that has been suggested. Easiest option is to shut them all outside.
He's a westie.....say no more, mine is just the same (he used to frighten the cleaner)

Aah no it dosent annoy us to b honest xx
2 of my dogs take very little interest in it, but the other one is quite scared of it, and sees is as an excellent excuse to jump on the sofa and hide!
