What's your verdict so far on The Killing?
This US version is almost a carbon copy of the Danish one so far in regard to similarity of the main characters and even down to their names and what they are wearing. The hand knitted sweater which was the hallmark of the Danish Sara Lund and the interior shots of the Larson's home and Stan's overalls. Also the little boys Danish knitted woollen tasselled head gear.
The background music is the same as the Danish series; very haunting and evocative. However, I have read that in this version the murderer will not be the same as in the Danish version , "Vagn", who was not a credible culprit in my opinion as he was so close to the family and attached to the children, Lars closest friend etc. Anyone any other opinions?

I completely disagree with this. While the first episode was a carbon copy, the second was very, very different. Everything is speeded up: the boots weren't found until late on in the Danish one and the secret room under the basement wasn't discovered until later either. They've also dispensed with the red herring of the driver and my not making the teacher Asian, they've lost another sub-plot. It's intriguing in its own way but not a patch on the original.
I agree with your comments Maxi. It was the first episode which was so similar. I wonder if they will keep all the same red herrings in this time. I remember that we were directed to suspecting everyone apart from Stan (Lars) ,the Dad, last time. It became almost silly. But saying that it was worth watching.
