My Husband who is 16 years older then me has been talking about when he might have to go into a care home, he seen quite ok with this, he is of ill health, he has prostate cancer and is a kidney patient. he is now 76 years old. My question is, what will happen to our house, will i have to sell this to fund his care?
I myself am 60 and disabled, i can get about the house but have a motorised wheelchair for outdoors. I receive DLA. Would i have to sell up, what is my position legally? thank you dinkydoo.

As things stand the house is protected for your lifetime (or as long as you stay in the house) plus any assets that are yours (savings, investments etc in your name) some councils will put a charge against the house recovered which is when the house is finally sold or inherited, some don't. i think that this might change in the future although not for a while.
