Hi There, I would love to buy a People Carrier, but my hubby says it would be too much too insure and too much on petrol. Does anyone know what Insurance Category they would come under?
Thanks.

After all they are like a small van.
Maybe better off with a diesel one?
Boot space is sometimes quite small so people and rugby kit for example are not a good idea.

As I work for an insurance company I can honestly say that they are no more expensive to insure than most normal family vehicles. If you can avoid anything with a large engine capacity, or just Ford Galaxys in general (for some reason they are expensive to insure), you should be fine. Of the modern MPVs the Renault Scenic has a very low insurance grouping (some equivalent to as low as Group 5) because of its excellent safety rating in the Euro NCAP tests, widely available parts and low repair costs. Also cheap to insure is the Citroen Picasso, but if you choose this over the Scenic you'll sacrifice a little in the way of practicality.
