has anyone had a dog with lumbar sacral disease?

If it is degenerative disease such as lumbosacral arthritis, treatment with NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as Rimadyl, Metacam or Zubrin, or PLT can be very effective.  You cannot reverse the disease but you can make the dog comfortable and help it to do the things it enjoys.

Alternative therapies which can also help include acupuncture, magnet or copper collars, hydrotherapy, massage,

...glucosamine and chondroitin supplementation, devil's claw, cod liver oil and heat pads can all be of use.
