are there any lefty Homophobes?
It seems from SP below that only right wing newspapers and presumably their readers can be homophobic, will the liberal elite on here will enlighten us on the qualifications needed? FYI I do not buy and hardly ever read any newspaper.

Having briefly read the previous question, I don't think the point the questioner is making is that only right wing people can be homophobic.
Rather that there is a section of the British tabloid press, which happens to be conservative with both a small and a large "c", likes to target minorities with attention-grabbing headlines that pander to the predujices of a section of its readership. In the context of the British press it does appear only to be the "right-wing" papers that do this, but plainly, if you take the population at large, people of all political persuasions can be homophobic.

That is a very interesting question, which I don't think has ever been posed on AB. Speaking purely on empirical evidence, I would say that aligning oneself with 'left wing philosophy' would ge incompatible with being homophobic...but I don't believe for a single moment that there are no lefties who hate the homos

...it's just that it's so frowned upon in left wing circles that anyone who really DID have gay prejudice would keep it very well hidden.
The equivalent is a Conservative-voting, Surrey-dwelling, golf-club member who doesn't see anything wrong with Muslim women wearing the burkha.
However, the general truth is that 'lefties' are more inclined to inclusivity (possibly because left-leaning politics are an urban trait, which means you're more likely to meet blacks, gays, Muslims etc), whereas 'conservative' (small 'c') strongholds are tradionally non-urban.
All of the above is a hug generalisation.
