LOL, craft, but I know we shouldn't...

I understand your answer Karen but is it always the drivers fault? ( & before someones asks! I do have Grandchildren) I have seen accidents caused by adults walking out in front of cars, dogs on a lead that pulls the owner in the path of a car, & children pulling away from their parents into the path of a car, there are speed humps & there ARE SPEED HUMPS that was the question.
If you drive slowly enough over the speed hump you won't damage your car
I don't drive fast even when I'm driving fast-for-me...
the bump up and down is a small price to pay I suppose for road safety, I dont like speed humps much but as a parent I appreciate the safety aspect of cars being prevented from tearing up the road at speed, we have big sleeping policemen style humps near me where they go over the whole road so you have no choice but to crawl over them.
Obviously not every accident is caused by excessive speed TWR - but those that are will hopefully be prevented by speed humps curtailing drivers' speed.
I am with boxtops on this one, as the square ones in the middle of the road are stupid. You can not avoid them no matter how slowly you drive over them. The full width ones are the best, though I do not like these bumps at all. Speed display signs are much better, as that really hits home to you, as when you slow down you can see a difference.
You need to drive with one wheel over the top of the hump and the other on the flat or you damage the inner wall of your tyres.
You don't have to put up with dead children if parents do their job properly and ensure they don't go near the road until sensible enough to know it is a dangerous place. But agreed there is a tendency to blame others these days rather than accept responsibility.
