As an executor of a will, how can I pay bills owed by the deceased from their estate.

providing there is some cash in hand a bank will allow you to open an 'executor account' where ready cash and money later realised can de deposited,

there really is no panic in my experience....funeral directors, utility companies etc are used to waiting for administration to be granted to the executors and know the score regarding time to comply with banking regs,

there is no comeback on the executor for anything other than unreasonable delays and in fact my mothers will clearly stated that the executors are not liable for any losses or whatever due to time taken
sigma - If you hav'nt already done so, let the creditors know about the situation, so they don't just think it's payment avoidance.
