I want my money back!

A dozen of us meet to play sport on a Wednesday night & then go for a drink. Six weeks ago one of the guys forgot his wallet so I lent him £20. Every week he has a different excuse as to why he hasn't returned my money. Everyone thinks he is taking the P out of me. It's not as if he can't afford it. I was planning on calling into the hotel where he works and and leaving a message for him with his manager - hoping it will embarrass him into paying. Any thoughts?

do it, the skinflint should pay you what he owes.
At your next Wedneday meeting, forget your purse and see what happens!!
Is this guy working etc and should he be able to repay you without difficulty? If yes, go for it, all guns blazing. I hate people like that.

I might try that tonight Lottie
Can you not call in at the hotel when he is there and ask to see him at Reception. Then ask him in front of the receptionist or manager and make him squirm.

Lottie, that is my Plan B if he doesn't stump up the cash tonight
thats what i would do as well...mrs_o ( love that name ) LOL
Yes, that is a very good idea, Mrs O. If he knows his boss knows about it then that would be very bad for morale. That would embarass me, I know that much.
Moral of the story don't lend what you can't afford to lose.
I have the same problem Mrs O. Too soft to say no, but have now come to a decision - if anyone else wants to borrow I shall tell them I have no money and stick to it. If I had all the money people owe me I would be able to live for a couple of weeks without drawing on my pension. You tend to judge people by your own standards and they are just not as honourable as you are.
I'd wait until you were with friends and say 'what about that £30 you still owe me...' when he blurts out it was only £20 say ok I have witnesses now you admit you owe it ...hopefully that will make him pay up out of embarrassment
i would offer to go to the cashpoint with him
Agree with Lottie, forget your purse, and then remind him that he owes you £20, and tell him that you really need it now!........
