Strange Occurance
19 Answers
There have been numerous occasions when I look at the clock and it says 9:11, more than any other time. Obviously I know the significance of this as a date, and there is a possibility that unconsciously it registers more because of its significance. However I never seem to look at the clock and see other times as regularly as I do 9:11.
I believe that to an extent the brain can predict the future. For instance, one morning I imagined that I would see an old friend and we would have a chat. That very same morning, the same person I had envisioned speaking to, happened to be at the same place, at the same time as me, inevitably we ended up talking. This may not seem strange, however we had not seen each other for 3 years prior to that meeting and I had not thought about him for that entire duration.

By the laws of probability that is unlikely, but going by my routine it is not. If you have a set routine where you tend to be doing the same thing at 9.11 you may be more likely to check the time. I just mentioned the pic cos it gave me a wee shiver when I saw it.
It is very strange that when my birth date appears in any form of media I notice it immediately but I hardly ever notice other dates. Either it appears more frequently than other dates or I am somehow specialised to notice this date, I suspect being given birthday presents as a child may have some significance.. ;-)

Thanks all. Daisya I read your thread with interest. You're right opinions vary greatly on this. I've had many a discussion with my hubby about this subject. He believes the brain can foresee future events also. There is a great deal we don't yet know about the brain so it is a plausible notion. With regards to parts of your discussion, I would like to think that the process of our lives are just a series of random events, however, as time goes on, I feel more like our futures are mapped out for us.
i have been having the same experiences for several years
i have a digital clock radio in my bedroom, and 10.13 seems to be the time i see too many times to feel comfortable with it. it freaks me out a bit
I too can think of someone I havent seen for years, and then see them shortly after.
it happened to me just last week. I had a sudden picture of someone I hadnt seen or thought about for about 5yrs, then saw him a few days later, in a shop
im glad im not the only one.

I have the same thing but it's probably just because the figures have a certain significance whilst other times go unnoticed. Often I will wake in the early hours and the clock will show 4:44. This immediately reminds me of "Nearer My God, to Thee", which is hymn number 444 in one of the hymn books, sung at my father's funeral. I always feel a slight shiver, as if the clock is telling me my time's nearly up.

A Few years back I was in hospital & my nephews came to see me to ask about their great/grandmother Kathleen Andrews (my mother) as they were doing a family tree & wanted to visit her grave.
The next day I was to be discharged, the docs had signed me out but I had to wait for medication but the pharmacy had closed for lunch.
To hurry things up the sister gave me someone elses medication which was identicle.
That evening I prepared to take a dose & I glanced at the name on the bottle -It was... 'Kathleen Andrews' - Ooooooo!

My OH has ben hounded by the number 57 - it recurs in so many events during his life, where he's lived, car nos. etc - his age when he met me! or is it just we get something in our minds that makes us see the number more, whereas normally you wouldn't noticed - for me , it was buying a new car a few years ago, I decided that I'd like a Focus Estate, but couldn't remember seeing one, and now there see to be so many of them on the road (they are probably one of the most sold cars in the UK now!)
