Seeing them celebrating their win and sipping champagne did you feel a slight pang of jealousy?

Sorry to be so slow here, but can anyone fully explain both envy and jealousy to me? I thought they were the same things. Simple answers, please.
JB12:
I thought that I'd done exactly that with my first post on this thread!

Example:
If I see a guy on the telly who has got a massive fortune, a beautiful wife and a fantastic lifestyle, I could find myself thinking "I wish I was that guy". That's envy

However, if I've been hoping to date a certain lady but I find that she's going out with someone else, I would also feel envy. (i.e. I'd wish that I could also be in his shoes). But because (unlike the rich guy above) he's 'taken something from me', I might also have very negative feelings towards him (possibly bordering on hatred). It's the addition of those negative feelings which turn simple 'envy' into 'jealousy'.
The best of luck to them, they seem down to earth but I hope their eating does not get of control.
Out of control
They can now afford a personal trainer each and powerplate exercise machines. before they invest in lolling around. Envious? of course.
They have just come back from a private shopping trip to harrods. When they asked can we look round , they were told they already did!
I'm with Zeuhl. There is nothing slight about it.
I just feel an overwhelming urge to help them spend spend spend!

Show me the money!!
I feel very sorry for them - they will find their lives ruined.
At least the News of the World won't be hounding them..Let's hope the other press leave them alone!
No don't envy them just wish them good luck. Think they are silly going public but only for the hate mail they will receive or nastiness they will encounter which is apparently the norm for wins. Hope they can cope with all the stress that may come their way too but most of all wish them the best of everything for something that has already changed their lives.
Welcome to Euro who wants to be a 161 millionaire..
