Have been getting calls from them over the past 4 weeks. Accident did not happen within the 3 years anyway. No nasty injuries and all was well.

The nice guy on the phone this afternoon turned out to be an idiot when he called me 'darling'

Grrrrr, 'have a nice afternoon darling'

Even my hubby doesn't call me that (presumably cos he knows me)

Anyone got any pet hates of over-familiarity?

i have it when i get called "bab" or "me duck" i know it s a local thing but it really annoys me
I was dealing with T-Mobile's Customer Service Desk, and the individual I was talking to kept calling me 'Sweetie'.

Not normally averseto such displays of familiarity from strangers, but this was a man!

No man gets to call me 'Sweetie' without dinner and a movie at least!!!!
especially in hospitals....when a patient and asked my name I gave it...MRS W********* when the nurse would say brightly and what do you prefer to be called I'd say I just told you... I never called patients by their first name unless they specifically asked me to and hated it especially when the really young nurses were over familiar..
I once had this over officious plonker on the 'phone and he kept calling me 'madam' which I hate and I said to him if you call me madam one more time I swear I'll scream! He didn't.
I hate telesales that continue to try to make their sale despite me telling them firmly no.
And the patronising little sh1t from a major tv supplier who asked have you connected it correctly... and justified it by saying a number of our older customers find it difficult to understand the diagram... did you see my date of birth on the form you odious little.... ooooh I feel a mini rant coming will save it for monday shall I

andy I'm not a man (at least the last time I looked)
but sweetie, you can choose the movie and restaurant :)

I don't mind if someone calls me Mrs Alba (behave) and I ask them to call me by my first name. It's the presumption which irks me.

I brought my sons up to say MR So-and-So and Mrs Thingummy (they do live a few doors away) but these days it's first names!!!
Thanks alba - made my day!!! xx

"Must tootle for a bitty"

Ever seen Little Britain?
a solicitor i had the misfortune of meeting, a right t**ser who had the temerity to call me by my first name, even though we had just sat though a pretty awful court hearing, on opposing sides. I could have swiped him with my handbag, if i had been carrying one, preferably with something heavy in it
Being called 'dear' by folk who were the year below me at school and know it!
Thanks again alberqwerty.

I'm not too impressed by being called 'young man' - although to be fair i do not look my age. I am a grandad for heaven's sake!!!!
Evening, I had an accident in Feb of this year, got a call this morning."Our records show you've had an accident in the last 3 years, press button 5 to fast-track your claim"
Idiots it was 'an accident' no-one meant harm. someone stood on my foot, stillelots wearing person. Drink was involved, it was a wedding! So,perhaps I am,in part to blame! No-one forced me onto the dancefloor.
Therefore whom would one hold responsible?
