We have had part time 'Bobbies' on the cheap, and it seems that they want us to have a part time military.

While the TA have a place side by side with regulars even in combat situations, but is this a wise move to replace regulars with part timers?

If you pay peanuts you get monkeys................
and then give £52 million in aid to africa!!
I suppose anything will go if it means cutting costs. Pity we can't do similar with MP's, I'd do their job for much less money and very little expenses.
Most of the time military personnel do very little. Apparent from the War operation in Afghanistan which should not be left to amateurs, we have soldiers deployed in Cyprus, Falklands, Gibraltar, NI, Sierra Leone, Pakistan and Libya. We also have permanent deployments in Belieze, Brunei, Canada, Germany and Kenya. This work could easily be done by the TA if the idea is to just save money.
Gives another meaning to cattle fodder. I assume it will only apply to the Other Ranks and not to the Officer Class. A slap in the face for regular serving soldiers some who want to make a career in the Army. A TA part-timer can be fired or discarded at will.
Cattle fodder?

Did you mean that or Cannon fodder?
