I recently relaid my patio. I now want to grout the gaps between the slabs with a sand/cement mixture. I have been I should use a dry mix of sharp sand/cement but sharp sand always seems to be slightly damp/moist when bought from DIY outlets. Is sharp sand the correct type of sand to use?
campbell - to point up your patio you need to use a damp mix of sand / cementix it sharp sand will be fine. Do not go down the mix it dry and brush it in route, it will not last. It is a tedious job to do but will bring your patio together - you can finish joints with a pointing iron like this

Also some mates have used pointing guns like this with some success - I would use soft (builders) sand then
