Over 30 years ago I accidentally imported horsetails (those christmas tree weeds) into the garden in horse manure.
Every year I spend hours rooting the little b's out. I try every chemical spray I can. Does anyone have any tips and tricks to get rid of the blighters?

(Basically, it seems to say keep on using the chemicals until either the weed, or you, finally gives up!)

I feared this might be the case Chris - thanks anyway.
before you use weed killer go through them giving them a bit of a bash with a bunch of canes as the silica in their outer layer stops the weedkiller penetrating and bruisng them a bit gives it a chance of getting in
Good luck - they are the very devil to get rid of.
have been trying to get rid of this weed for mor than the years, no chance!.....It's been around for thousands of years, and will be for thousands more too I think!...........It's indestructable!.........believe me, I have tried!.............it's still here!...........
