Fascination with lights

Chessman asked in another thread if the little one had a fascination with lights? What does this mean if they do? My 12 week year old daughter stares at them.. it actually calms her down sometimes. I just thought she was going to be an astronomer...

I understand that it is quite common and normal for babies to be fascinated and calmed by lights. This also applies to people with various kinds of brain damage (no comparison intended) and a firm called Rompa make what they call snoezelen environments to capitalise on this. They are very successful

all babies are attracted to light and sounds, as their eyes don't see as clearly as ours they are drawn and intrigued by light.

The reason I asked, and before I go on, your baby is too young, my daughter is Autistic, and at 20 months, she was banging her head on the floor, and exhibiting the symptons I was asking about, but, your baby, at 12 weeks, is exploring with her eyes, and acting normally.

my little boy was never bothered by lights until our shopping centre got these purple coloured lights and he was mesmerised, even now he is nearly 7 he loves them!

I'm mesmerised by lights and I'm 17 years old...
