I so agree with you, already causing problems, hassle, complaints and we already have a year to go - I am fed up hearing about it already, heaven only knows how bad it is going to get. All the air fares will be going up, both and into the country next year, public transport will be manic, and the disruption will be unbelievable.
Its just a load of self absorbed idiots prancing around being watched by even bigger idiots. This could be said about all sport, but least other sports are fun to watch. Watching a fatty throw a metal ball or someone jumping into a sandpit are not my idea of a fun way to spend time. Not to mention all the telly schedules will be messed up.
The problem is that these idiots who are promoting the Olympics are convinced that the whole country is behind them, when it is simply not true.
p.s. That ridiculous 'Lisa Simpson commiting a sex act' logo is the icing on the cake.
"Prepared for the VisitBritain and Visit London organisations, the report said that the Olympics were likely to generate tourism gains of £2.09bn for the period 2007-17, including £1.47bn for London.
The immediate post-Olympic period (2013-17) was likely to be worth £1.27bn for the UK as a whole, with about £400m of this benefiting areas outside London"
The only quibble, for want of a better word, i've got is that more of the money won't be distributed around the rest of the country.
The last time the Olympics were held in London (1948) we were in the grip of austerity and I was a mere foetus. Is history bound to repeat itself (not the foetus bit, naturally).
