Children & Pushchairs!

I bumped into a new neighbour a few days ago & she was pushing an empty pushchair. I enquired as to how old her 'youngest' was & she replied "Oh, he's four & a half, but he's so lazy, I have to collect him from school with his pushchair, otherwise he creates".

I was quite surprised to hear this, as both our daughters were out of pushchairs at nearly three years old. Am I alone in thinking that his Mother should be encouraging him to walk to & from school, which is after, all ony a few minutes away?

nearly 5 and still demanding to be in a pushchair. thats taking it a bit far.

all the mum has to do is put up with a few days of him kicking and screaming as he has to walk home, then as he knows he has to do it, he will realise that kicking up the fuss does nothing, so he has to walk.

if he can make his mum bring the pushchair other wise he creates...i can only guess that at home he also gets away with eating snacks and crisps etc, otherwise he has a tantrum. mum needs to stand up to him for a while, it will be better in the long run

Hi Smudge, my 4 and a half year old regularly walks up to 5 miles!  We have been on "walking" holidays with friends with small children from when our youngest was not even 3 and they all had loads of fun and probably covered double the miles than we did!  I say make him walk!!

ridiculous.  I have a tot who is 2 and half and she walks most of the way when we go for walks and we walk nearly 2 miles.  That's along way on tiny legs.  She does moan, but I just keep saying:  come on, run rabbit, keep up, you don't want to get left behind and so on and so on.  I wouldn't have been able to push my 4/5 year old son in a buggy as he was too big and heavy.  It would have done my back in.  Also, this child would not be able to be pushed if there was another child younger than him.

It is the buggy now, but with an attitude of "oh, I have to do this or he creates" who knows what next.  Exactly who is in charge of who here???  A parent who needs to get tough I think...

I'm glad it's not just me!

Judging by what I've seen & heard so far, their children are most definitely in charge! They've made a rod for their own backs though & might regret it later!

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to learn that both the boys, aged 4 & 6, still sleep in Mummy & Daddy's bed too!

The mind boggles.
