in our local paper today it says that free/assisted prescriptions are ending as the powers that be haven't paid the chemists and owe them 3.5€m. It also mention Mallorca, is this going to affect Menorca too! I have always paid towards mine but will have to foot all of it soon!!!

nety...I haven't heard of this, but I would be surprised as the cost for pensioners is born by the UK.

The pharmacists haven't been paid since January of this year.

Also the Travel agents have refused to handle patients going to Palma for treatment as the Government owes them money.

Will keep my ear to the ground.

I think the travel agents has been resolved here, they are continuing to fly them, but for how long, ridiculous state of affairs.
Nety...have got a couple of contacts. Will keep you informed of any developments.

Sqad, can you recommend another BP med, at the moment I taKe coaproval but that will cost me nearly 25€ a month if I have to pay in full, cannot take Enalapril as it makes me cough, I want a cheap alternative.
Torasemida is similar containing a diuretic and a hypotensive agent as does Coaproval. I think that it is cheaper, but check at the pharmacia.
I would start with 5mgms in the morning and then monitor you BP over a couple of weeks, as you may need to adjust the dose.

But check on the price first.
