Travel Insurance
3 Answers
Hi all, when travelling abroad in the past we have always booked our travel insurance as a family as we have never travelled with anyone else. This time however we are going with friends and are wanting to book as a block booking as it is cheaper this way for some reason. My question is if we do this can we still book our travel insurance separately and how would we stand if one couple had to cancel for some reason. Would the others still be able to go without any penalties to the booking. Both couples have pre existing medical conditions and if we book insurance together it costs a lot more as we get better deals when using different companies. Thanks in advance, Shed.

if you had already paid for the holiday, and someone dropped out it wouldn't have any detriment to your holiday as such (presuming you would still go) they would just have to claim on their insurance for a refund of their portion. If you cancelled because they dropped out it would depend on your insurance policy whether your portion was covered (it probably wouldn't be)
If you hadn't already paid when the other people dropped out, you would lose your deposit, or if you still wanted to go the entire party would still (Probably) have to be paid for.
