Note the milestones - first feeding self, going to toilet alone, bathing alone, washing hair, tying shoelaces, walking to a friend - all things your child will do without you one day, and never need you for ever again. So enjoy them.
I am really lucky - my youngest daughter is sixteen, and still likes to be tucked in when she is tired, and I know I'm on borrowed time, so I never ever say No!
