Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Clue No. 19ac

Would some kind soul please restore my confidence in spelling, as I believe the correct answer to this clue should be RELATER and not RELATOR which the compiler obviously believes to be the correct way, on the basis of the clue which is "Storyteller (RELATER) confused real (REAL) story with no beginning or end (TOR) thus giving RELATOR.

You're right with 'Relator', which Chambers shows as -

"...a person who relates; a narrator..."

Many thanks Lie-in King, I did check with my Chambers, Collins and O.E.D.
and hope that the Compiler will do likewise in future ! ! !

Mind you, if things like this didn't happen we wouldn't have matters to talk about.

Perhaps some cofusion here, in so far as the compiler's clue does not give the correct spelling to the answer i.e. Clue answer "RELATOR" correct spelling "RELATER

"Storyteller" can be 'relatOr' or 'relatEr'

Your original post shows the clue works for the 1st spelling

Hello Lie-in King for the last time, I hope, to-day

I have now done some further checks with my dictionaries and have to apologise for the confusion which I have caused. It would seen that in my older copies of Chambers and Collins they only show RELATER, but having now checked with later editions it appears that this is now shown as RELATOR
but strangely there is no reference to RELATER.

Trust the Compiler will forgive me for this oversight. ??

No harm done having a chat about it, planeman!

Some compilers get away with too much IMO & need pulling up every now & again... Some editors could do with waking-up as well!

Oh, just to replace the spanner - both my Chambers & Collins have both spellings :-))

I thinks it's about time we disposed of our older editions and started using the new copies, which incidentally were won a while ago with some crossword or other ! ! !
