Map of London date

Hi guys, i have a fold out map of London that used to belong to my mither-in-kaw, it is 1inch to a quater mile scale,, it cost 3/-, no idea when, but there are 37 cinemas listed and indexed in the little booklet attached to the back cover, It was published by the geographers map co of grays in holborn, what would help me date this? (London Bridge is still there and not in Arizona and Battersea park pleasure gardens and funfair is on there next to the power station,

I know there is mention of a 1956 one in the history of the maps of london but that one was 3/6

52 or 53, then? A 15% price rise might take 3 or 4 years then.

It's possible, they moved from West Ham in early 1950 and were in Sarfend by the November. Those 37 cinemas are just in the West End!

I think most changed the programme twice a week. The cinema was enjoying its heyday, millions went every week.

In 1951 Battersea Park was transformed into the "Pleasure Gardens" as part of the Festival of Britain celebrations.

Is there a map of the underground? Stations / lines shown, existing or proposed, might give a clue. Also the style of map, which changed from time to time.

Geographers are the A-Z people, aren't they? London Bridge is still here now, as it has been since the time of Gog and Magog, so that's no help. As ABerrant says, the Pleasure Gardens were introduced in 1951, but I don't know how long they kept the name.

there is a little underground map in colour attached on the opposite side of the inside cover to the map of the west end cinemas.

Battersea Park Funfair was introduced into the park in 1951. It closed in 1974.

Decimal coinage came in in 1971 so it must be before then. 3/- = 15p in decimal, I bet they cost £3 now!

This link refers to the the Geographer's atlases (rather than to fold-out maps) but it shows that the company's address was 24-27 High Holborn in 1950, but 28 Gray's Inn Road by 1956:

Without seeing the map, dating it may turn into a form of 20 questions!
To start, from the Underground map, can you tell us how far the eastern branch of the Central Line (Liverpool St - Ongar) is shown "proposed" or "open".
If entirely proposed, map is pre 1946. If entirely open, map is 1950 or later. If partially opened, extent will help give year between 1946 and 1950.

We have already ascertained the map to be before 1956 (cost 3/6) but not before the 1951 construction of Pleasure Gardens & Funfair.
