If you can buy anything close to antibiotics over the counter? I know you have to see the doctor to get the real thing. they are for MrsMM not me. If I ring the surgery tomorrow it will be thursday at the earliest before she gets an appointment. Pity we're not in Spain.

no.
If you ring the surgery tomorrow, surely they keep a couple of appointments for emergencies? ours do.
Alternatively you will have a chemist somewhere in your area who is open today, but probably for limited hours - they may be able to help with a short-term alternative until MrsM can get to the docs.
Even in Spain now, they are tending to "clamp down" on over the counter antibiotics.
Can't you ring the GP and ask if you can pick up a prescription?

MrsMM could be in trouble by Thursday.

i will ring tomorrow sqad but the surgery is quite strict about giving out 'scripts' without seeing the patient. I can but try.
dont you have a walk in clinic near you ? I am presuming you are in UK ? They can prescribe and tell you where a pharmacy will be open, ours is open till 9pm each night but we are on the outskirts of London.
