adopted Son
11 Answers
My lovely son has found me after 46 years. My Mother took over and organised the adoption and now he has found me. We have met up several times and the bond was instant. He has stayed at my home for a weekend with his partner and the love I felt for him was just incredible. I would like to give him something special to keep for his next Birthday, having missed all the others, has anyone got any ideas. A friend suggested 46 cards but I really do not want to do this !

May I suggest an expensive watch if you can afford that is to make up for lost time if someone else comments on it he can say yes and tell them the story and everytime he looks at the time he will think of you.Have it engraved too.
I am glad that things have worked out for both you and your son. It must have been such a relief to find out that he had thrived and grown up to be a person that you could both like and love.
These days 'forced' adoptions would be frowned upon if not illegal but back in the 'dark ages' it was all done silently and secretly. I was born in 1963 and it is amazing how the world has evolved in such a relatively short time.
Best wishes to all of you.

How wonderful to have found each other after all those years. I hope you have many happy years ahead. It's difficult to think what to buy him as he probably has most things he wants at his age. Possibly a really good camera or video camera so that he can take many pictures of you over the years to keep when you are gone. If I can think of anything else I'll let you know. Ooh, or you could have a painting done of yourself for him.
Perose, that is a lovely story - I am so delighted for you and your son. Last year I finally traced my biological father, sadly too late but I am now in close contact with my half sister and half brother, especially my half sister. When it was her birthday, I got her a little silver heart with SIS written on it, she can attach it to a bracelet if she wants to, or just keep it. I think the watch idea is lovely, even if he has one - it will be because it is from you that it will be so special. Alternatively, something with 'son' on as a keepsake - it's not fashionable but the sentiment will be perfect.
