Clickfree C6 portable hard drive

This hard drive arrived on Saturday from QVC.
It sounded great - just plug in and backup begins, even backs up Windows etc.
That's ok if it actually works I suppose.
Firstly it said an update would be downloaded but it never completed no matter how often I tried. If you click skip backup you can't go any further with setup.
Very disappointed. Obviously there are teething problems with it. Judging by the negative reviews which have appeared on QVC in the last few days, I am not alone.
Needless to say I will be returning it at once.
Can anyone suggest a decent external hard drive which really works and isn't to complicated or expensive. Just something reliable.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
