Would a salt-water solution with cotton wool do? I've not used cotton wool for ages and forget if it sticks. The salt-water solution I can do but have no eye-bath.It really is annoying me. Thank you
alba, think that cotton wool is not a good idea!......just try washing out your eyes with clear water, and then go see the chemist in the morning!......
alba, poor you. I have not (yet) had conjunctivitus but swear by using cold, dripping wet, spent tea bags on my eyes to relieve them of terrible hayfever irritation and general soreness/tiredness. They always bring me relief. Wish them better soonest x
Now, if you want to talk about gunky, the abscess attempted to drain itself a few days ago (I did post about it lol) and it is in a very ladylike place:p
If it's a sticky greenish type discharge which gives awful matted lids on waking it's most likely to be a bacterial conjunctivitis. Just clean and bathe with cooled boiled water regularly as it's usually a self limiting condition which resolves in 7-10 days whether treated with topical meds or not.
Allergic conjunctivitis is typically itchy with more of a watery discharge and more commonly affects both eyes straight away.
Hope this helps.
