What is the best site for information on using DVD recorders after the digital switchover?

Previously, I just recorded the analogue channels.

I have the Panasonic manual - but it makes little sense - presume it's a bad translation.

DVD recorders (and Video recorders before them) had a TV tuner inside them.

When you recorded on to DVD (or VHS tape) you were actually recording what was on the TV tuner INSIDE the VHS player/DVD recorder, not what was on the TV.

The future will depend what TV tuner you have inside your DVD recorder.

If it is a few years old it will be an analogue tuner so will pick up no signal after the digital switch off.

If it is newer it may be a digital tuner so you may still be able to pick up a signal on it.

So you need to check if the TV tuner inside your DVD recorder is analogue or digital.

VHG, Many Thanks the information - fear that my recorder is too old.
For years I have recorded from my Skybox on my DVD recorder.

I run a scart from the digibox to the DVD recorder, and another rom the recorder to the TV.

The trick is that you have to select the correct input - in my case line 3.

Whenever we have a power cut it defaults back to line 1, but luckily that displays on the little screen and I have to use the 'input select' button on the remote to select line 3 again.
As Hopkirk says, if the DVD recorder has an analogue tuner – you just need to ensure that you are not using the rf input. You might have to buy a dedicated (to the DVD recorder) set-top box if you want to record one channel while watching another.
Is anyone else out there frustrated by this digital switchover lark? It is going to cost me an awful lot of money to replace everything, 3 TVs (or buy a box) and my 2 video recorders. I don't really understand what to do but as I'm not 75 years old I don't qualify for the free advice. I'm totally fed up with it all - and we change next week.
Ceefax on the digital channel does not seem half as good as on the old BBC analogue channel - there is hardly any information now - why?
