Bizzie Lizzie Problem
7 Answers
I planted a heck of alot of bizzie lizzies at the start of summer all over my garden, some in the ground but most of them are in compost in tubs, troughs etc and every single plant is dead. Its not just me who has had the problem but quite a few people i have talked to. Anyone else having a problem?

I bought my plants in Morrisons this year instead of my usual B & Q and am really pleased with them, they have done really well. The tubs underneath them, I lost the plants that were in them due to the snow, now have bizzie lizzies growing in them from the seeds dropped last year from above. I can't suggest what your problem might be with yours, I am in NW London, if that helps at all.
Yes Hollie - I can confirm it IS Downy Mildew. I went to the Thompson & Morgan Open Day recently and they had a huge wall covered in flower pouches full of dead or dying busy lizzies! On the wall was a notice from the head advisor of T&M saying that they had planted the usual "flower wall" and this is what had happened - they had decided to leave it to show the public that it is downy mildew and is prevalent this year (and has been during past few years but this year is the worst ever!) Some plants escape, depending if they are in a sheltered spot, but the spores will travel, also please don't dispose of the plants in the compost heap! Google it and read for yourself...
