Opportunitism. If they go for the chinese up the road, I will be first in line to rob the free squid :c)
I have to agree with Trim on that one.
Agreed Sandy.

Lack of convictions or cautions does not mean good upright citizen.
Soory, I meant agreed Trim.
These thugs are some ones "Little Angels"
"Previous good character" only means they haven't been caught before!
no excuse for this, none whatsoever.
It's not politics, it's plain greed.

I saw an interview with a girl who'd been looting - she said she'd been to the free shop.

Back in April some of the arrested G20 protesters from middle-class homes. Why are they so disillusioned with the political system that they feel they need to act in such a manner?
I think it's a slap in the face of all the surveys, scientific research and the left wing PC brigade that would have us all believe that only those from broken homes, high unemployment areas and low income families are prone to such behaviour. There will be score's of "middle class" "well off" kids that have been involved in the rioting.
why should they be disillusioned, they have everything they could wish for, wealth which many can only dream of, they go to good schools, and have the best that money can buy.

^^^ Existential angst?
"Some Of The First People Accused Of Rioting Are 'Of Previous Good Character'."
Yes I'm convinced that not everyone involved was previously a criminal before the riots but many that got involved in rioting/looting or any other illegal acts became criminals during this period.
One quote from a thug on Radio1 said "I don't care, I've never been in trouble before. It's my first time!" - why is this an excuse?
I'm sure Doctor Shipman, Crippen, Peter Sutcliffe, etc, were 'of previous good character'.
All criminals start somewhere or get caught for the first time.
But I suspect some of those with criminal record stayed in the background here organising things and directing youngsters to go in and loot for them
