With such an increase in sales why no mention of a similar increase in the sale of baseballs?

not especially, American football is more popular, but football takes the top spot.
Baseballs don't do as much damage to the skull, but a nicely balanced bat doe's the trick!! (I think the article is alluding to the potential threat of looting and a viable means of deterrent/protection)

I know, but people arming themselves with these are just stupid.
Yes they are em10, in order to swing the bat with a view to hitting someone effectively you need to get close, one wrong move they could end up being beaten with the bat themselves. A gun would be a much better means of self defence!!
This has to be the funniest thing I've read all week.

"One customer review, by Harry Fish in Bristol, says: "This bat is perfectly weighted and will suit any UK shop-owner looking to protect their property.

"Thanks to the ergonomic handle, one easy swing should be enough to shatter patellas, skulls or any other bone on your targeted looter.

"Personally, I would recommend also investing in some fingerless gloves for extra grip."
It is until the police have a clampdown and start shooting owners of the weapons, in the chest.
Had one in the van for years!

When the Blackwater Farm riots in Tottenham were going on the milkmen noticed that for several weeks before no-one was putting out their milk bottles as they were stockpiling them for petrol bombs.
