Anyone else having problems trying to update this phone? tried umpteen times and I just get the message your not connected to the internet, test your connection and try again, I am connected, anyone any ideas, doug.

Not trying to be obvious, but have you;
i) downloaded the latest version of iTunes (should be version 10.4)
ii) plugged the USB into a port on your computer, not your keyboard

My iPhone 4 updates fine, so unless you actually have got a 'bad connection' thats the limit of my expertise!!

As sddsddean says, you have to be connected to your computer and iTunes to update your iPhone, you can't update it any other way at present.

Yes the phones connected as I had just finished sync, also I have the latest version of iTunes, the message is iTunes can't connect to the server as there is no Internet conection.

All I can think of is to uninstall iTunes and re download it in case you have picked up a bug of some sort. Otherwise, phone your phone provider and talk to their technical bods. I'm on O2 and they have helped me out with issues.
