Why would my external hard drive force windows xp to close?
My PC is fine until the hard drive is turned on, then I get a warning mesage that it's been forced to close.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

Unclear why that would be.
Is the drain on the power supply proving to much and causing unrelated problems ? Or maybe something is shorting out when the drive is turned on, and causing it somehow.
Well the first obvious thing to do is try it on a different computer and see if it works ok then.

... although that could be difficult if you don't have access to another computer.
What happens if you turn it on before switching on your computer?
