possibly up to 8 percent, who on earth comes up with these figures.
People are already under the cosh from massive rises in utility bills, and food prices increasing day by day, not sure how they get away with it. It's no wonder many people still keep to their car, packed in like sardines on many commuter routes, and no guarantee of a seat either.
If at least they would build better networks and new capacity with modern carriages. I am sitting on an old carriage with no wifi and no charging points. For a 100 miles journey it takes over 3 hrs and costs over £90 day return, I can rent a car for a day.
i agree, and if anyone looks at the current rail fare structure, i dare anyone to to make head nor tail of it. Even Martin Lewis Money expert says he finds it confusing, so what help for the hapless rail passenger.
I am not interested in wi fi on trains, but decent, comfortable, and affordable fares, they are just pricing people off the trains and back into their cars.
Quassia, much as they always do i guess, though some may just decide to jack it all in and go on the dole, if you price people off public transport, smack them with endless rises in gas/electricity/food/fuel, then what incentive do some have to go out and earn an honest crust.
wonder why my private pension is stuck?
I would love to know how the Train companies manage a 3% above inflation rise when all around us are being told to tighten our belts!
We don't have trains or regular buses and my son has to drive 70 miles a day to get to work. As jake the peg infers - rises in fuel are way above the rises in train fares. And road users often have parking charges as well.
I suppose unless you live near to where you work you are in trouble.
I Often wonder how the rail stand regards the passengers standing & their Insurance Liability? I hope in never happens but in the event of a accident would the insures try & get out of paying?
