i mean a package, not just a letter
It's that now too - just had to collect one!
£1 plus whatever the postage should have been.
The item is charged at the minimum 2nd class rate plus 1£ handling charge . The person receiving the item will receive a "fee to pay" card in the post notifying them that an item is being held for them which requires a fee to be paid . The fee can be paid in a number of ways , including on line . The item will them be sent out for delivery when the fee i paid .

(typo. errors "then" and "is" instead of "them" and "i" )
Bear in mind that the person is not legally obliged to pay and can decline delivery. So if you are doing it to get at them it may not work.
..and if they don't pay up, as long as there is a return address on the package, then Royal Mail will send it back to you.

.. but of course it means that the person receiving it has to cough up, not the sender - and there have been times when I have been so cheesed off with repeated unstamped or understamped letters from the same source, that I have refused to pay the extra, in which case they get sent back to the sender.

How are you going to post it without postage on it? If it's a letter you can just drop it into a post box, but I work in a Post Office and I wouldn't accept a package without any postage on it.

why would i be trying to get at someone?

its urgent stuff for a shoot, but the cost of posting the parcel, then posting them a receipt for the cost of postage, then waiting weeks for them to sort it out then them having to send me a cheque reimbursement, outweighs the pound and saves me time too, which i dont have to spare...so its easier...

thanks
