I have a lovely white azalea on my window sill with plenty of blooms but all of the petals are tinged with brown and I wondered if anyone can explain why this is so. It stands on gravel and I always water it from the bottom.

Is it getting too hot from the sun through the window, so burning the petals?? Just a thought....

I don't think that is the reason mumsie_wumsi in my case because the plant sits on my kitchen window sill which faces north so there isn't any sun until really late at night.
I have looked on google and it gives lots of different reasons why... have a look and see if it helps.
It could be the water, Azaleas are not lime tolerant. Is you tap water lime free if not best to water with rain water.

Thank you sallybb. Our tap water is not hard but I will try your suggestion of using rain water and see if there is any difference. I have nothing to loose as the brown tinged flowers and buds are not very attractive. I do have another azalea in the house which seems problem free.
If it was in bud when you got it the damage may have occurred before you started caring for it... lots of shops/garden centres don't manage the watering/humdity requirements very well
