Google Earth ......vanished!

I installed Google Earth on my laptop a few weeks ago it was fine, then a few days later I was going to use it again and it had dissapeared. Thinking maybe I hadn't saved it I installed it again but I can't find it. I have tried a couple of times since and although it says it's has installed there is no icon on my desktop and a search of my computer only comes up with Google Chrome, which I don't use. Does anyone know what is going on?

I can't explain it but we have just had the identical problem on two different machines. The only way round it was to go into My Computer and navigate to the Google Program Directory, Right Click on the Google Earth .exe file and create a shortcut.

Thanks dacortin, I have now found the .exe file after manually searching for it. I now have the icon, lets hope it stays there this time.
