Wild watercress

It is dangerous to eat wild watercress due to problems of liver flukes, but has anyone used it cooked, in soup?

Yuck I wouldn't
Just googling liver flukes!
I don't fancy eating them even if they have been cooked and pureed !!!!!
Not dangerous then if sheep or cattle haven't been anywhere near the stream or river.

Surely, at one time all watercress eaten was wild.

The watercress you buy in supermarkets doesn't look as good as I remember it years ago.
Ok if you have properly made your soup and delicious, i.e a boil in the cooking process..............watercress soup with a little extra protein - yummmmm

(only joking on the latter point)
You are right about at one time all of it was wild Lottie........and folk got liver flukes :-(. The trouble with where it grows wild is it's hard to be sure it's not contaminated.....
Shame though Woof because the old watercress I remember had lovely lush green leaves and a wonderful taste. What you get now is a poor excuse. I am always disappointed when I taste it.
