Just had a friend request on FB and have had to send the person a message asking them who they actually are. They must know who I am as it is a person who has mutual friends and is from my home town and I recognise them from their photos. I feel it is rude to ignore the request but I need to put the person into context. Would you consider it rude if you got a similar message?

I'm even wary with mobiles. If I get a text saying hi its Dave 'this is my new number' I always say 'tell me something only I would know'
I am not on facebook. It strikes me it is a pain in the arse. It then comes on here as an argument. No not for me.
I have got Skype and I get requests to go on my list from complete strangers. I have no idea who they are so I ignore them. I wonder why they would want to talk to someone they don't know face to face?
