Searching for a style?

I'm looking for a particular singing style, I can only describe it as being sort of Medi-evil/folk like.  Can anyone recommend any artists or genres to check out please.

Well, the Mediaeval Baebes might be a good place to start. MB leader Katherine Blake started off in Miranda Sex Garden and their first album Magda is full of  madrigals. They're not necessarily for the purists, but are still pretty good. (and easy on the eye, if that's any inducement...)

I was also going to say Medieval Babes, bruce.

 I first saw them three  couple of years ago in Bournemouth when they were guests with the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. Certainly different. Very watchable in a hypnotic kind of way and great voices.

Thankyou all for you suggestions.  Waldo & Cetti, that is not quite what I was looking for, nevertheless very interesting.  I was thinking mainly of male soloists, accompanied by mandolin or harpsichord possibly!  Old English folk?

Machecoul, loved that!  Very Enya'ish, who I do enjoy listening to.  Can I suggest to you "Yanni" if you like that sort of thing!

It's just that many years ago I heard the style of music that I was looking for, I think it could have been Nick Drake, but everything I've heard from him lately seems more up to date!

Have you listened to any Steeleye Span? I know it's an old group, but it seems to me that they are the kind of thing you mean.

It's unlikely anything you've heard by Nick Drake is very up-to-date; the poor sod died in 1974!

John Renbourne might be worth listening to - also try Alan Stivell (French - but sings mainly in Breton language).

Yes I have some Yanni stuff and many others. (Arkenstone are very listenable).
